Trip Overview

Annapurna Base Camp(ABC) is situated at an elevation of 4130m from sea level. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Annapurna Himalayan Range consists of thirty peaks, which is also known as the Annapurna massif. Annapurna Massif is extended over 55 kilometers and mainly consists of Annapurna I (8,091m), six prominent peaks over 7,200m, and others above 6839m elevation. The Annapurna I is the tenth-highest mountain in the world. The massif encloses the high glacial basin; Annapurna Sanctuary.

The entire Annapurna massif falls within the first and largest conservation area of Nepal, Annapurna Conservation Area spread across 7,629 square kilometers. The name of the range Annapurna comes from the Hindu Deity “Annapurna” who is the giver of food and nutrition. Annapurna Sanctuary offers the main source of irrigation water in that area for agriculture.
