Itinerary
Day 1: Flight from Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft) to Lukla (2,850m / 9,350ft). Trek to Phakding ( 2650m / 8562ft)
Hike duration: 3 hours
The journey begins with a scenic flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla. We will start hiking from Lukla after having breakfast. Today’s hike will approximately three hours as it is the first day of the trek. In most of the places, we will walk alongside the Dudhkoshi River to reach Phakding. After reaching Phakding we will have our lunch then rest time you can spend exploring around.
Overnight stay will be at Phakding. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 2: Trek from Phakding (2,650m /8,562ft) to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft)
Hike duration: 5-6 hours
After having a warm breakfast at Phakding we will start walking towards the destination of the day; Namche Bazaar. Today we will walk approximately six hours and cover seven to eight kilometers of trail. We will follow the bank of Dudh Koshi River and as we walk further north we reach Sagarmatha National Park checkpoint, where we will need to register for the permit. On the way, we cross numerous suspension bridges including the popular Hillary Suspension Bridge. We will need to walk through the dense forest to finally reach Namche Bazar. On the way, we can see the first glimpse of Mount Everest.
Overnight stay will be at Namche Bazaar. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 03: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
Today will be our first acclimatization day of the trek. Acclimatization is needed to get adjusted to the altitude thus helping prevent us from Altitude Sickness. Acclimatization day means a rest day but we will do a day hike to explore around. We may visit Buddhist monasteries, yak farms, Hillary School, or Nagarjuna Hills. Namche Bazaar contains numerous café, restaurants, and gift and gear shops.
Overnight stay will be at Namche Bazaar. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 04: Trek from Namche (3,440m / 11,285ft) to Dole (4,200m / 13,270ft)
Hiking Duration: Six hours
After having a restful day at Namche we will hike North to reach tonight’s destination; Dole village. From Namche, our trek route separates from the Everest Base camp hike route, which continues towards Tengboche.
The trail to reach Dole Village is rocky with many ups and downs. En route to Dole, we walk through Mong La Pass at elevation 3,957 meters, from where we can see the beauty of Mount Ama Dablam and Mount Khumbila. Traversing through Pine and Rhododendron forest we will reach Dole. Today’s total hiking duration will of six hours.
Overnight stay will be at Dole. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 05: Trek from Dole (4,200m / 13,270ft) to Machhermo (4,470m / 14,450ft)
Duration: Six hours
After having a warm breakfast at Dole we will climb further toward Machhermo. We walk alongside prayer flags and yak pastures. As we walk further, we can see the change in the geographic landscape.
We can find the stunning Mount Cho Oyu standing in front of us. We pass through Lapahrma and Luja village before finally reaching Machhermo.
Overnight stay will be at Machhermo. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 06: Trek from Machhermo (4,470m / 14,450ft) to Gokyo (4,790m / 15,584ft)
Duration: Five hours
Today will be a Gokyo special day. We will hike through grassy highlands and Phanga; where we can see memorials of people who had lost their lives during the landslides. Before we enter Gokyo we will be welcomed by the very first Gokyo Lake, which is the smallest among the five Gokyo Lakes. We reach Gokyo village after a short walk from the third Gokyo lake.
Overnight stay will be at Gokyo Village. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 07: Acclimatization day at Gokyo. Gokyo Ri viewpoint (5,400m / 17,814ft )
Hike duration: 2-3 hours
Today is the second acclimatization day of our trek at Gokyo. We will wake up very early in the morning to hike towards the famous viewpoint of Gokyo Ri, from where we can see Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Another highlight of the Gokyo Ri viewpoint is the phenomenal view of the sunrise. The rest of the day we will spend exploring Gokyo Valley.
Overnight stay will be at Gokyo Village. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 08: Trek from Gokyo (4,790m / 15,584ft) to Thangnak (4,700m / 15,400ft)
Hike duration: 5-6 hours
Today we will have a shorter yet challenging hike to Thangnak village. We will pass through Ngozumpa Glacier; the path is rocky and filled with many ups and downs. Our tonight’s destination will be Thangnak village, which is near Ngozumpa Glacier.
Overnight stay will be at Gokyo Village. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 09: Trek from Thangnak (4,700m / 15,400ft) to Dzongla (4,855m / 15,930ft) via Cho La Pass (5420m / 17,783ft)
Hike duration: 6-7 hours
Today as well we will start our day early in the morning. We will start hiking from Thangnak village following the rocky trails and glacial moraines up to the top of Cho La Pass. From the top of Cho La Pass, we can see the beauty of Mount Cholatse and many more. The hike down the Cho La Pass is more challenging than the ascend, as the path is icy and slippery. After an hours-long and thrilling trek, we will reach the destination of the day; Dzongla.

Day 10: Trek from Dzongla (4,855m / 15,930ft) to Lobuche (4,910m / 16,175ft)
Hike duration: 4-5 hours
Today our route gets connected to the classical Everest Base Camp trek route. As we leave Dzongla, we will be hiking alongside Chola Lake then follow Khumbu Glacier. We can spot memorials of climbers who passed away in the region en route.
Today’s trek will be lighter and more pleasurable than yesterday.

Day 11: Trek from Lobuche (4,930m / 16,175ft) to Everest Base Camp (5,364m / 17,598ft) and back to Gorak Shep (5,185m / 17,010ft)
Hike duration: 7-8 hours
Today is the remarkable day of our trek as we will be reaching the Everest Base Camp. We will start early in the morning as today’s walk will be longer. After reaching Gorakshep from Lobuche we will have breakfast or lunch and leave our backpack there, then head to the Everest Base Camp.
Wow! Finally at the Base Camp of the World’s highest mountain. You will feel a sense of fulfillment after reaching the base camp. We will get to see the beauty of Khumbu Glacier and many more at the base camp. After capturing beautiful pictures at the base camp we will trek down to Gorakshep. Gorakshep is one of the highest-altitude settlements in the world.
Overnight stay will be at Gorakshep. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 12: Hike to Kala Patthar (5,555m / 18,208ft) viewpoint, trek to Gorak Shep, and then to Pheriche (4,250m / 13,945ft)
Hike duration: 5-6 hours
Today is another significant day of the trek. We will wake up very early in the morning to hike toward the Kala Patthar. From Kala Patthar we will get to see the first ray of sun fall upon the highest peak of the world; the Everest. We will also get to see an incredible 360 views of the highest peaks of the Everest region. What you will witness from the Kala Patthar is inexplainable in words.
After spending a memorable time at Kala Patthar we will descend to Gorakshep for a warm breakfast. After Breakfast, we will descend toward Pheriche, which is the destination of the day.

Day 13: Trek from Pheriche(4,250m / 13,945ft) to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft)
Hike duration: 6-7 hours
After having an early morning breakfast at Pheriche we will head down towards Namche Bazaar. We will be walking through forests in many places where we might spot wildlife of the Everest Region; Pheasants, Musk deer, Mountain goats, etc. The trekking trail looks decorated by prayer flags and chortens in many places.
Overnight stay will be at the headquarters of Khumbu region; Namche Bazaar. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are included.
Day 14: Trek from Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,285ft) to Lukla (2,850m / 9,350ft)
Hike duration: 6-7 hours
Today is the final day of the trek. After breakfast, we will hike down following the downhill steps towards Lukla. We will cross many suspension bridges, pass through several villages, and in most of the places walk alongside the Dudhkoshi River.
Tonight’s stay will be at a hotel in Lukla, which will be the final night in the Everest region.

Day 15: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft) from Lukla (2,850m / 9,350ft)
Flight duration: 30-40 minutes
If everything goes as planned we will be flying back to Kathmandu today. You will have a scenic flight to Kathmandu. Today is the final day of your journey on the Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Kathmandu by your trek guide.

Useful Info
Your Arrival in Kathmandu
We provide airport pick-up service so you do not face difficulty in a foreign land. One of our BMS adventure representatives will be at the airport to welcome you with a pamphlet with your name upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport. From the Airport, you will then be transferred to your hotel.
You should arrive at least one day before the trek starting day, to have enough time to make sure you have packed all the necessary items for the trek.
Lukla flight information
At other times, flights will be directly from Kathmandu to Lukla. But during peak season months; March, April, May, October, and November, there could be alterations in flight. Because of flight traffic from Kathmandu, we may need to drive an extra 4 to 5 hours to Ramechhap. Ramechhap to Lukla flight is only eighteen to twenty minutes long. We must leave Kathmandu around 1 am to catch a flight from Manthali, Ramechhap.
Accommodation
Your accommodation during the trek is covered by the package cost, whereas accommodation in Kathmandu is not covered. You can find a wide variety of hotels in Kathmandu as per your budget. You can book on your own or ask us to book one for you.
Communication
Internet facilities are available in hotels and teahouses at a small charge but it may not work in high altitudes.
You can purchase a local SIM card to ease communication and to buy an internet data package. We can talk with our valuable guests via our trek leader every day.
What to pack in your bag?
If you are planning your trip to a Himalayan country you should consider packing some warm clothes. in mountain weather keeps changing, we can find different weather on the same day. Weather in the mountains tends to be windy to sunny to wet so we have listed a few things as a checklist for you.
For head:
- hat or p-cap to prevent the face from sunburn
- woolen cap to keep warmth
- scarf or muffler
- the face mask as a virus precaution and protects your nose from heavy wind
- sunglasses to protect the eyes and to see better in mountain
For feet and hands
- warm gloves
- Sandal and sneakers
- Thin cotton socks and thick woolen socks
Trekking special items
- sticks (which you can hire at Thamel, Kathmandu as well)

Food during the trek
Any kind of food is available during the trek. Guesthouses have a menu that consists of both international cuisine and local Nepali cuisine. You can also try new cuisine which you haven’t tried before. Here are a few breakfast, lunch, and dinner options that are commonly found during the trek.
Breakfast
We can have a wide range of options for breakfast such as omelets, bread, cornflakes, cookies, oats, pancakes, milk, tea, coffee, hot lemon, boiled or fried beans, etc. Somewhere you get traditional breakfast items such as Gurung bread (a famous breakfast in the Annapurna region), cell roti, puri, roti curry, etc.
Lunch and Dinner
Traditional Nepali lunch and dinner is Nepali khana consisting of Lentil soup, Rice, curry, pickle, and some salad. There is a famous saying around trekking areas “Dal Bhat power twenty-four hour” which means Nepali khana’s strength remains for twenty-four hours. For instance, other than Nepali khana you can have varieties for lunch like; pizza, momo, chowmein, fried rice, noodles, spaghetti, soups, naan roti, etc. Lunch and dinner menus look similar you can choose as per your comfort, and preference.
Note: If you are vegan or in any diet restriction or allergic to anything, let your trek guide know beforehand.
Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory but accepted in Nepali culture. It is a way to show gratitude for the service provided. You can tip at the end of your trip.
