Itinerary

Day 01: Everest Heli Tour

Kathmandu (1350m) to Lukla (2860m)

In the early morning, you will be picked up from the hotel and dropped off at the airport. If the weather seems favorable we will decide to fly to the mountains. Mountain weather used to be very unpredictable which may lead to delays or cancellations of the flight.

You will get into the helicopter and ride toward Lukla. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla will be of 45 minutes. Lukla is the starting point of the Everest Base Camp trek. We will have a quick landing at Lukla airport for fueling. From Lukla you will fly to Kala Patthar.

Lukla (2,860m) to Kala Patthar (5,644m)

You will have a short yet thrilling flight to the Kala Patthar (5,644m). After landing at Kala Patthar you will have a few minutes to take a few pictures and look around. In Kala Patthar, you will find yourself surrounded by majestic peaks like Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Changtse, and the Khumbu icefall.

Kala Patthar to the Everest Base Camp (5,364m)

You will have a very quick flight from Kala Patthar to the base camp. You will be at the base camp of the world’s highest peak. You will get a few minutes to look around and capture some moments. You can see widespread glaciers, icefalls, and tented camps of mountaineers.

The base camp to Everest View hotel (3,880m)

The Everest view hotel is at Syanboche in the Khumbu Region. This hotel is in the Guinness Book of world records in 2004 as the hotel located at the highest elevation. You will have to pay the price of the Sagarmatha national park permit fee there which is $30 for each person.

You can order the breakfast of your choice and enjoy the menu seeing gloriously standing mountains.

Syanboche to Lukla

We will fly down towards Lukla for a short refueling break. We can again see the mountains beneath the helicopter while flying toward Lukla. After 15 minutes break, we will prepare to be back in Kathmandu.

Lukla to Kathmandu

You are at the end of your Everest Helicopter tour. You will have 40-50 minutes of the thrilling flight back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu airport you will be dropped at your hotel.

Which is the best season for the Everest Helicopter tour?

The peak tourist season in Nepal is spring (March to May) and Autumn (mid-September to mid-November). Spring and autumn are considered pleasant for the Heli tours as well. Since the Khumbu region’s weather used to be very unpredictable even during the best seasons, you can expect a delay or cancellation of the flight.
