Trip Overview

What comes to your mind when we are talking about the top of the world? Mount Everest is also known as Sagarmatha which means “Goddess of Sky” or “Head of the Sky”. Mt. Everest comes under the Mahalangur Himalaya range of the Himalayas. Its elevation is 8,848m, which makes it the top of the world. whereas the elevation of the base camp is 5,363m in height from sea level. Mount Everest falls within the perimeter of Sagarmatha National Park of Solukhumbu district. We will need to have a permit from the national park for the Everest base camp trek. Solukhumbu is 139km air distance from the Kathmandu Valley (capital of Nepal).

Everest base camp trek presents you with the opportunity to explore alleys of mountains residing at such an elevation and at the same time to explore peace, love, and gratitude within yourself. The elevated glory of Mt. Everest looks fuller with other striking peaks like Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Kongde, Mt. Thamserku and more. We will begin our trek from Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla (2860m). We reach the highest point of our trek to Kala Patthar at the height of 5,643m. Thus making our trip challenging with an increased chance of having altitude sickness and considered a moderately difficult trek.

Everest base camp trek is one of the iconic trekking destinations among trekkers in the world. With its immensely vibrant scenery, the Everest region looks like heaven on the planet. Kala Patthar offers the best viewpoint to enjoy the panoramic picturesque of white and green mountains whereas the lower panel of the camp allows you to observe the beauty of Khumbu Glacier and Alpine valley.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)

On the day of your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu one of our team BMS members will be there to welcome you. You will be taken to your hotel, where you may check-in, rest, or relax. You will be provided with a short overview of your trek from tomorrow. As there will be no planned activities for today you may relax in your hotel room or stroll around the hotel. Your overnight stay will be in a hotel. B.B. Plan.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2840m) and Trek to Phakding(2610m) Duration: 3-4 hrs

We will take an early morning 30 minutes flight to Tenzing Hillary airport in Lukla which is the airport located at the highest altitude in the world. Your flight experience to Lukla will be the most scenic and thrilling. Today will be your first day in the mountains. From Lukla airport, we will hike towards Phakding which will be our destination. Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazar (3440m) Duration: 5-6 hrs

You will wake up with the cool mountain breeze and your day will start with a delicious breakfast in Phakding. After breakfast, we will trail towards Namche Bazar traversing the Rhododendron forest. We will walk along amazing scenery such as the Dudh Koshi River, Bhote Koshi River, and many more. We will be warmly welcomed by Namche Bazar which is the historic Sherpa settlement in the lap of mountains. Namche Bazar is known as the gateway to Everest. Overnight stay will be at the Guest house. Day 04: Acclimatization Day Duration: 4-5 hrs

As an acclimatization day, we will stroll around the Namche Bazar. We will have an easy day hike to Everest View hotel to see Mt. Everest including other eye-catching mountain views. Another purpose of a hike is to adjust your body in high elevation or to stay away from altitude sickness. The other highlight of the day is exploring Sherpa culture and visiting Khuda and Khumjung Village. Return back to Namche Bazar again. Our overnight stay will be at the Guest House in Namche. Day 05: Namche to Tengboche (3860m) Duration: 4-5 hrs

After breakfast, we will start our day ascending to our next destination. we will walk along the Dudh Koshi River and the fascinating forest of Rhododendrons; the national flower of Nepal. We will get a chance to see multi-color pheasants, musk deer, Himalayan Thar, and more along the trekking path. We will even get to see one of the largest monasteries in the Khumbu Region; Tengboche Monastery. Obviously, we will be seeing pearly mountains one after another throughout the day. Day 06: Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m) Duration: 5-6 hrs

We will have our warm and delicious breakfast at the hotel then we will head towards our today’s destination. As altitude climbs up terrain looks drier and the wind hits harder. Another adventurous day but you will be rewarded with picturesque glittering mountains and vibes of warm-hearted people. We will pass through one of the biggest Sherpa villages of the Khumbu region; Pangbouche village. With further walk from Pangbouche, we will step into Dingboche. Our overnight stay will be at the Guest House in Dingboche. Full Board Plan.

Day 07: Hike to Chhukung Ri (5550m) for panoramic view and return back to Dingboche. 7-8 hrs walk

Here we will have another acclimatization day to adjust our bodies to the climate. To utilize this day properly we will take a hike to Chhukung Ri to have a peaceful panoramic view of hills, gorges, and tiny valleys. Then back to Dingboche. Overnight at Guest House. Full Board Plan.

Day 08: Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m) Duration: 5-6 hrs

After two days’ stay at Dingboche, we will go to our next destination Lobuche. Today’s trek will be adventurous because of the steep terrain to walk through but we will be safeguarded by the magnanimous scenery en route. Our overnight stay will be at the Guest House. Full Board Plan.

Day 09: to Gorakshep (5140m.)- (EBC 5364m.) 7-8 hours walk

This is an important day for trekkers as we are going to see Everest Base Camp today. Walking towards Gorakshep from Lobuche and then heading towards Everest Base Camp is really adventurous and exciting day. The highlights of these days are; Magnificent view of Everest including other grandiose mountain vistas, delightful glaciers, and many more. After having a wonderful day, back to Gorakshep. Day 10: Early Morning hike to Kalapathar (5545m.) for sunrise view and panoramic view of Everest Himalayan range then trek down to Pheriche (4240m.)7-8 hours walk

Another important and awaited day for trekkers. Early Morning you will head up to Kalapathar-Black Rock, one of the amazing viewpoints. We can witness stunning sunrise over Mt. Everest and spectacular views of other colossal mountains. After spending a quality and unforgettable time at Kalapathar, you will hike down to Gorakshep and further move to Pheriche. Day 11: Pheriche to Namche(3440m.) 6-7 hours walk

After breakfast, we start our journey to Namche, which takes approximately 6-7 hours from Pheriche. You will have ups and down during the walking and Of course with beautiful natural scenery. Overnight at Guest House. Full Board Plan.

Day 12: Namche- Lukla(2840m.) 6-7 hours walk

It’s time to say farewell to Namche, the most beautiful Himalayan town in Khumbu Region. We will have a similar trial to the previous days. Walking through forests with ups and down trekking trails, crossing suspension bridges, and many more significant monuments and impressive Sherpa village. Overnight at Guest House. Full Board Plan.

Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu (1350m.)

We can say bye to the mountain for the time being. After 30 minutes flight back to Kathmandu. You will drive to Hotel. Overnight at hotel. B.B. Plan.

Day 14: Departure

Our fourteen day’s adventure is over today and it’s time to send you home with a baggage of adventurous memory as a gift. One our team BMS will be there to pick you from your hotel to the airport. We will depart with the hope to meet again, may you have safe flight home.

 

Note: As we will be flying to & from Lukla which is the airport situated at the altitude prone to poor weather situation, may lead to flight delays or cancel for the designated day.

What to pack in your bag?

If you are planning your trip to a Himalayan country you should consider packing some warm clothes. in mountain weather keeps changing, we can find different weather on the same day. Weather in mountains tends to be windy to sunny to wet so we have listed a few things as a checklist for you.

For head:

  • hat or p-cap to prevent the face from sunburn
  • woolen cap to keep warmth
  • scarf or muffler
  • the face mask as a virus precaution and protects your nose from heavy wind
  • sunglasses to protect the eyes and to see better in mountain

For feet and hands

  • warm gloves
  • Sandal and sneakers
  • Thin cotton socks and thick woolen socks

Trekking special items

    • sticks (which you can hire at Thamel, Kathmandu as well)
    • Waterproof thin jacket
    • Windproof down jacket
    • Stretchable and warm trousers
    • breathable cotton t-shirts and pullovers

    Food during the trek

    Any kinds of food are available during the trek. Guesthouses have a menu that consists of both international cuisine and local Nepali cuisine. You can also try new cuisine which you haven’t tried before. Here are a few breakfast, lunch, and dinner options that are commonly found during the trek.

    Breakfast

    We can have a wide range of options for breakfast such as omelets, bread, cornflakes, cookies, oats, pancakes, milk, tea, coffee, hot lemon, boiled or fried beans, etc. somewhere you get traditional breakfast items such as Gurung bread (famous breakfast in Annapurna region), cell roti, puri, roti curry, etc.

    Lunch and Dinner

    Traditional Nepali lunch and dinner is Nepali khana consisting of Lentil soup, Rice, curry, pickle, and some salad. There is a famous saying around trekking areas “Dal Bhat power twenty-four hour” which means Nepali khana’s strength remains for twenty-four hours. For instance other than Nepali khana you can have varieties for lunch like; pizza, momo, chowmein, fried rice, noodles, spaghetti, soups, naan roti, etc. lunch, and dinner menu look similar you can choose as per your comfort, and preference.

    Note: If you are vegan or in any diet restriction or allergic to anything, let your trek guide know beforehand.
