Trip Overview

Yoga happens when your mind, body, and soul are in complete harmony and balance. This fourteen-day yoga retreat in Nepal is a perfect blend of historical and cultural experiences with rejuvenating yogic practice.

Once in ancient times, yoga was born in the lap of the Himalayas; many practitioners and sages were made in this northern part of the world. As Nepal is a Himalayan country you will get to see numerous mountains and hills from every corner here. Yoga practice in the gorges of hills where human civilization has happened is a lifetime experience.

It’s a luxury trip that includes visiting historically significant places, witnessing panoramic mountain views, and alluring nature around. You will get to know and see the beauty of Nepali architecture while visiting world heritage sites. Yoga practice schedules are accompanied by your journey which will help you connect with nature and understand your inner self.

We will start and end our journey in Kathmandu and in between we will visit UNESCO world heritage sites, Nagarkot, Gorkha, Bandipur, Pokhara, Lumbini, and Chitwan. You will get to experience much more than the description here.

Itinerary

Day 01: Your arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan international airport, Kathmandu you will be welcomed by one of our representatives from BMS adventure. You will be taken to your hotel, where you may check-in and freshen up. As there are no planned activities today you may rest or relax. Depending on your arrival time in Kathmandu or if you wish we can start your yoga session. Overnight stay will be in a hotel inclusive of breakfast.

Day 02: World heritage sites visit in Kathmandu and drive to Nagarkot

The day will start with an early morning yoga class which will include stretching, yoga asana, breathing practice, and meditation. After the yoga session, we will have breakfast and get ready to visit UNESCO world heritage sites.

Hanuman Dhoka: Hanuman Dhoka is also known as Kathmandu Durbar Square. The main attractions of Hanuman Dhoka are Hanuman Dhoka itself, 17th-century palace architecture, living goddess kumari, Pagoda-style temples, Kala Bhairava, and many more.

Swayambhunath Temple: Swayambhunath temple is popular with its nickname; Monkey temple. The temple is situated at the top of a green hill from where Kathmandu valley and panoramic Mountain View are visible if the weather is clear. Of course, you will get to see lots of monkeys, protecting your goods/foods from being snatched by monkeys. The Giantess of Stupa looks like a mountain. It’s a special pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world.

Boudhanath Stupa: Boudhanath Stupa is a Buddhist pilgrimage site and an imposing landmark of Kathmandu. This stupa is also known as mini Tibet which is surrounded by numerous mini stupas. Boudhanath stupa is considered the largest Stupa in Southern Asia. It’s thought to have been built by the Lichhavi King of Nepal around the 6th century CE and expanded later around the 14th century CE.

Pashupatinath Temple: One of the popular Pilgrimage sites of Nepal which is considered Shiva’s abode. Live cremation sites, the Pashupatinath temple itself, and numerous other temples surrounding Pashupatinath, Mirgasthali area are special attractions of the Pashupati area.

 

After completion of the World Heritage sites visit, we will drive to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is popular because of its sunrise and sunset view. If possible we will try to catch the sunset view. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Nagarkot. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 03: Nagarkot - Bhaktapur sightseeing and drive to Namobuddha

We will wake up early in the morning to catch the sunrise view and incredible mountain range. We will get energized and revitalized with the first rays of the sun and yoga class. After yoga class, we will return to have a delicious breakfast and then will drive to Bhaktapur.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square: Bhaktapur is also known as the city of devotees. The popular attractions of Bhaktapur are the Nyatapole temple, the Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla, fifty-five windowed palace, etc. After witnessing the exotic architectural monuments of Bhaktapur Durbar Square we will drive to Namobuddha.

Namobuddha: Namobuddha is a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site only 28 kilometers away from Bhaktapur located in Hills. We can have meditation practice during the prayer time of monks there. Further, we can have the same dinner in the monastery that the monks have. Our overnight stay will be at the Guest House maintained by the monastery. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 04: Namobuddha to Kathmandu via Patan Durbar Square

We will have our yoga practice done on the premises of the Monastery then we will join morning prayers with monks. Even Namobuddha offers magnificent mountain views, wide valleys, sculpted villages, and many more.  After satisfying breakfast with the monks we will return back to Kathmandu.

Patan Durbar Square: Just like Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square is an architecturally significant monument from the 16/17th century or earlier. Patan is also known as Lalitpur; a city of beauty. The main attractions of Patan are temples; alleys, cuisine, and architecture justify the prehistoric status of the city.

Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Kathmandu. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 05: Drive to Bandipur via Gorkha

Today as well our day will start with yoga practice followed by a soul-satisfying breakfast. Our destination today is the pristine Newari village in Bandipur. On the way to Bandipur village, we will have a quick visit to Gorkha Durbar square; the birthplace of King Prithivi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal. Overnight stay will be in a peaceful hotel in Bandipur. Menu inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.

Day 06: Visit Bandipur village and drive to Pokhara

We energize ourselves with yoga in the serene atmosphere of Bandipur village. After breakfast, we will go to explore the village. Traditional essence and beauty have been kept intact with enormous care so it feels like modernity has not touched this Newari village. Captivating views of mount Annapurna and Manaslu Himalaya range, local Newari culture, traditional Nepali style home architecture, and hospitality of friendly villagers are the best attractions of Bandipur.

After lunch in Bandipur, we will head towards Pokhara city. In Pokhara we will either practice yoga or stroll around the lakeside as per your choice. Overnight stay will be in a cozy hotel in Pokhara. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 07: Pokhara Sightseeing

we will wake up with the misty breeze of Pokhara city followed by soulful yogic practice. After rejuvenating yogic flow we will have our breakfast. From every corner of Pokhara, one or two snowy mountains will be visible. Pokhara is a popular tourist destination in Nepal with numerous places to explore like; Phewa Lake, Davis falls, Gupteshwor cave, Peace Pagoda and Bat cave, etc. In the evening we will sum up our day with relaxing meditation beside Phewa Lake. Tonight’s stay will be in a hotel. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 08: Sarangkot Sunrise and drive to Tansen, Palpa

We will wake up very early to catch a gleaming view of sunrise and the Annapurna Himalayan range from Sarangkot. We will witness incredible sunrise with the Annapurna range serving as a backdrop. If the weather favors us, we will do some yogic stretches in the morning sun of Sarangkot. We will get back to our hotel for breakfast without delay.

After breakfast, we will head to our next destination which is a 4 to 5 hours drive away from Pokhara. Tansen is the headquarters of the beautiful Palpa district. Tonight’s stay will be on an ancient hill named Srinagar from where we will observe the picturesque sunset view of mount Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu Himalayan range. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 09: Drive to Lumbini and sightseeing

We will wake before the first ray of the sun hits us. Splendid sunrise and an alluring view of the mountains can’t be the second priority. We will get to click numerous pictures with the view.

After having a delightful breakfast we will drive towards the birthplace of Gautama the Buddha. Lumbini is historically, religiously, and archaeologically significant. Mayadevi Temple, Ashok Pillar, stupas, eternal peace flame, and ancient remains of Lumbini Durbar are the main attractions of Lumbini. Tonight’s stay will be in the hotel Lumbini. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 10: Drive to Chitwan

We will begin our day with meditation in the birthplace of Lord Buddha.  This place holds so much divine energy. After blissful yoga and meditation practice, we will have our breakfast at our hotel. We will drive to our next destination; Chitwan. Chitwan is another tourist hub in Nepal. We will take a 2-night / 3 days tour package to facilitate our exploration in Chitwan. We will have our lunch in hotel Chitwan. After lunch, we will go on the Tharu village tour, and observe Tharu cultural program including a unique stick dance. We will have our dinner in Tharu village. Tonight’s stay will be at a hotel. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 11: Chitwan National Park exploration

We will begin our day with a few yoga asanas and AUM chants. Today’s trip is loaded with excitement. We will do canoeing, bird watching, Jungle walking, and a Jeep safari in Chitwan national park. Overnight stay will be at a hotel. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

Day 12: Chitwan to Kathmandu drive

We will take a tourist bus to return to Kathmandu after having breakfast at the hotel. It will take us 5 to 6 hours to reach Kathmandu from Chitwan. The drive will not be boring with the wonderful scenery to see on the way. In the evening we will have our yoga practice or we can finish our practice before taking a ride to Kathmandu as per your comfort. The menu is inclusive of Breakfast and Lunch.

Day 13: A shopping and relaxation day in Kathmandu

We will have our final yoga class of the retreat in the morning or evening before dinner as per your comfort. As there are no planned works today, you can visit Thamel to buy gifts for your family and relatives. We will have a farewell dinner at a typical Nepali Restaurant with a live cultural program. Overnight stay will be at a hotel inclusive of breakfast and dinner.

Day 14: Your departure from Kathmandu

We have come to the end of our two-week-long luxurious yoga retreat. One of our representatives will come to transport you to Airport from the hotel.
