Mount Makalu with its elevation of 8,485 meters (27,838ft) makes it the fifth-highest mountain in the world.  Mount Makalu is easily identifiable with its unique shape of a four-sided pyramid. This mountain falls within the Mahalangur Himalayas and it is only 19 kilometers southeast of Mount Everest. Our trek will be of twenty days with the added adventure of camping and cooking on the way to base camp. Our accommodation will be in teahouses as possible otherwise we will set up camp for lodging. Trek will begin after a scenic flight to Tumlingtar from Kathmandu. We will follow the Barun river, the rhododendron forest, and ascending or descending trails to the base camp.

We will begin the trek at 460m altitude to the highest elevation of 5000m at the Makalu base camp. The trekking will not be easy but once you reach the base camp the immensity of beauty will be worthwhile more than the effort. As we walk through the Makalu Barun national park we will get to see numerous kinds of wild birds and animals. Interaction with locals on the trek will give a glimpse of their culture.
